Day Sixteen or...

That's bazaar, and two pizzas are better than one!

Our day with Katya began with a trip to the Bazaar. We were looking for KZ auto decals for our cars back home. We found six nice ones. We're hoping Babushka might like one on her shiny Camry. ;-)

From there we returned to the Iceberg for more supplies. We also bought to beautiful picture frames. We will be giving them as gifts to the judge and the prosecutor after court on Tuesday. Gift giving is an important aspect of life in Kazakhstan. The judge will say she doesn't want a gift, but she will also be expecting and waiting for one.

We came back to the hotel, where we had lunch and a nap. Katya watched Toy Story 2, which she very much enjoyed. We discovered that Finding Nemo won't work on our DVD player, so Marina exchanged it for a 4 in 1 DVD which has Lion King I and II and Lady and the Tramp I and II.

When Marina returned, we left for some sightseeing. We went to the Ishim River first. It flows along the northern edge of Petropavlovsk. Much of it is still frozen over and there were people out ice fishing as they were two years ago.

After that, we visited a couple war memorials before taking a walk down Consitution Avenue. It's a pedistrian walkway, and many people were out enjoying the milder weather. The amusement park was also open, but Katya didn't want to ride any of the rides. I'm not sure if she's never riden before, or that none that she likes were open.

By then it was getting late, so we took Katya back to the Shelter, said our goodbyes and made a beeline to our pizza place. We got two pizzas this time, and managed to eat it all but one piece. We think we can make it through three more dinners at the hotel now that we been fortified with the pizza.

Tomorrow is Sunday, but we have no big plans as of yet.
